Before I start, I want to introduce someone.
This is Jane!
She is 25, a girl of Mathematics based in Berlin (but the lesser known secret : a girl with a lot of creative passion brewing inside her, trying hard to find a let-out – we will get back to this in detail later), a girl dealing with a tumultuous life and still dreaming of making it big and beautiful.
So our story starts in the early March of 2016, to be precise on the 10th of March. Spring is just around the corner, the air is crisp and fresh, the trees are getting back their greens and the sky is being painted a lovely blue.
Jane goes about her day like any other day – going to the university, working and getting back home. Retiring for the day and curling back into her bed, when she checks her phone, she sees a notification on her Facebook – a friend request. From a very unknown person. She starts wondering about it when she notices that there’s more. There’s a message request waiting for her from the same person. The message goes something like – “This is in regard to your ad in ‘name-not-important’ matrimony website and I was wondering maybe we could talk and see how it goes….” Well, Jane was taken aback a little and didn’t really know how to react to it. Her parents did tell her that they were going to set up a profile for her in one of those websites. As long as she wasn’t being involved in any of those and wasn’t being badgered, she really didn’t mind. And she anyways wasn’t seeing anyone then, so why deprive the dear parents of the groom-searching fun for their only daughter (They were actually having a lot of fun doing this, it had become a tea-time hobby browsing through profiles and trying to find the perfect match. ‘Bubbling with excitement’ could be the right words here.)
But this incident was a first. When her Mom heard of it, her reaction was, ‘Sure talk, why not? It’s just talking to a person, if it doesn’t mean anything, nothing has to come out of it’. Jane was still wondering. The guy did look appealing (she did do her research, like she does on almost everything that intrigues her). Maybe a little talking wound’t hurt. So she went ahead, accepted the friend request and texted him back.
Before going any further, let’s talk about her research a little bit, so you know something about our mystery man.
First : He’s one good looking fellow. Handsomeness mixed with the right amount of innocence and charm.
Second : He’s super smart not only because he is a PhD in one of the hard basic sciences but also because he’s really smart (which was discovered after the initial research).
Third : He’s a great dancer and a really good cricket player. Oh before I forget, he’s in the US.
So it was a Friday, when the first texts were exchanged. The weekend was drawing close, it was time to take a breather and this suggested it was a good time for the first talk.
